Can’t link to external webiste.

  • Weird … for me the link doesn’t work properly. I’m wondering if its because I’m logged in as the admin vs a net new browser trying to connect.

    What does flywheel CDN mean? When I clicked on that link on my site using a browser in private mode instead of taking me to https://www.crpo.ca it went to:

    https://hhcw.ca/faq/www.crpo.ca

    The link I’ve put into the page is: https://www.crpo.ca

    On another page, I have links that work fine and am not doing anything different. This is why I’m confused.

    Well, when I look at the sourcecode of your site these links pop up:

    Did you first work out your site on a local host like flywheel?
    https://local.getflywheel.com/

    If so how did you transfer it to be published.
    Looks like the strange url’s refer to a prior local environment, and after publishing to the web, maybe you did not get the new url correct?

    Did you set up this site yourstelf?

    what is the url in your WordPress dashboard> settings?
    It should be: https://www.crpo.ca/

    All internal links should be checked, they might still point to the local url…?

    I created this from scratch and never on flywheel. Yes I set up the site myself and the link has always been https://www.crpo.ca, but when i click on it it takes me to an internal link followed by the real one.

    Very strange!

    So please look at my screenshot, wordpress>settings> general.

    Hmm I see you are using the Sentient theme:

    In its description it says it had the Visual Composer build into it.Yet here you are on the Elementor pagebuilder forum?

    Please do not tell me you have two different pagebuilders in there?
    That is like having two captains on one ship.

    Even the theme refers to flywheel:

    In the description of the sentient theme it also says, easy one click demo import.
    Did you use a one click demo import?

    That might explain the links going to flywheel, maybe those files are stored in the Flywheel cloud?

    Actually I can not detect the Elementor pagebuilder in your sourcecode??
    Getting very confused here now haha.

    It is rather clear to me, you are on the wrong forum?
    Please contact the developers of your theme to sort this out.

    Advice: do not use themes that have bundled other pagebuilders, sliders etc inside.
    You have zero control over those other plugins, you can not even see if they are updated because the theme authors have it all build in.

    Go with a theme like OceanWP + Elementor pagebuilder, I love the combo, but that is up to you. I can not help you because this is not the forum for the sentient theme.

    Since today, I cannot set external links anymore. It is no more possible to link a word or a pic to an external link. Internal links to sub directories are working.
    I am using 5.0.3.
    When I try to ad an external link, I cannot update a page or a post.
    It appears “updating failed”.
    If I cancel the external links, I can update the page or post again.

    When I activate the classic editor plugin, it works again. Then I can set external links.

    I even tried it in an absolut new setup without active plugins.
    But still the same… “Updating failed” as soon as I try to set an external link.
    What can I do?

    I have exactly the same problem. However I am unable to link to external website from my footer widget area.
    I try to link from this page: https://www.biutique.pl/
    To this page: https://www.youmedigital.com/

    And following happens:
    https://www.biutique.pl/www.youmedigital.com/

    I am using this to link: YOUMEDIGITAL?
    if I use full URL for youmedigital with https, it doesn’t even recognise/create a link at all.

    Although your questions seem to be related to the original posters issue, I strongly reccommend you both start your own seperate topic about your issue.

    I just tested it in one of my sites with Elementor, and could add an external link without any problems.

    Thing is, many factors can play a role in this, so you will have a better chance of getting help in your own topics.
