• I’m on the latest version of wordpress.com hosted, I’ve backed up my files to import into my new own-hosted WordPress (2.8). I’ve done an export, but when I try to import the XML file I get the error message ‘are you sure you want to do that?’ and will not import. i’ve tried importing directly the the PhpMyAdmin database and get the error message:

#1064 – You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘<?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”UTF-8″?>
    <!<!<!<!
    <!<!<!<!<!<!<!<!<!<!
    <!<rss vers’ at line 1

I’m not a techy – any idea what’s wrong or what I should change?

    Thanks!

It won’t let me import, just says ‘try again’ and always fails.
