• Guys, I’m trying to install a theme but when I click on Appearance > Themes that’s just NOOOOOOO “add theme”, “upload”, NOTHING!
I installed the wordpress 4.1 and uploaded the .zip and the unzipped folder of the theme I want and on the theme page, this one I uploaded isn’t part of the available ones.
I’m using the FREE version. Is uploading your own theme a prerogative of the paid versions of wordpress??
    Thanks!!

  • There is no paid version of WP – it’s always free. (There is a paid level of hosted WordPress on WordPress.COM – but that’s totally separate from a self-hosted www.remarpro.com site.)

Where is your site hosted? Link to your site? What’s the theme you are trying to upload?

My site is hosted on 000webhost.com and my site is https://spectaxular.wordpress.com/

The theme Im trying to apply is called Customizr! thanks!

Free hosting isn’t recommended for running WP – it often has major problems. I’d suggest finding better hosting –

Oh wait a minute – your site is EITHER on WordPress.COM here:

    https://spectaxular.wordpress.com/

OR a self-hosted site on wherever – free hosting or someplace else. Those are not connected at all.

And you cannot use outside themes on WordPress.COM sites.

If you are going to use the WordPress.COM site, you can get support on their forums (not here). But don’t bother to ask about outside themes – they’ll tell you the same thing – you can only use the themes offered on their site.

I was told that for what I’m up to in my site (database with personal data) I better off go with WordPress.

Honestly, I can’t understand the use of www.remarpro.com. What exactly is the difference between this and wordpress.com???
I already have a domain .com.au (the site I sent you the link is merely to test the services of the site), what’s next, host it?

Please read the link I posted above – this one:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

As you can see from that post, there is much less flexibility on WordPress.COM – so if you want total control over your site and the ability to use plugins, then you will need to use www.remarpro.com software on a host. But like I said, free hosting isn’t good. So the first step will be to set up hosting and point your domain name there if you want to use that domain name.

THank you so much, I’m gonna do this right now.
So, first step is to pay for hosting on a paid host (I picked SiteGround) and then sign up for WOrdpress??? I have no idea how to transfer my .com.au domain to use it with WordPress.

Where is your domain name registered? You need to go to that site and set the nameservers to SiteGround’s nameserver settings (get those from them).

Also, you don’t sign up for WordPress on SiteGround – you will use their WordPress installer to install it on your server space. They should have easy info about how to do that.

Oh, thank you!!! Alright, Im gonna do that (actually decided to go with Bluehost). I think the installation process shouldn’t be very different anyway.

So after purchasing one of the packages offered by Bluehost, I’m going to install www.remarpro.com on it and then sign up and buy a paid version of WordPress (those that costs $99 per year)? Is that the order to follow??

No, if you are on BlueHost you are not using WordPress.COM at all – don’t do anything there. You don’t need that site. But if you want to keep it for something someday, just go to the settings and set it to private. You may want to use that user account to use the JetPack plugin on your self-hosted site, so may as well keep the account active. But do not pay for anything over there. EXCEPT if your domain name is registered with WordPress.COM, you need to keep that current and set the nameservers to BlueHost.

Ok, so if I dont pay for wordpress, how can I upload the theme I want? According to that someone who advise me, to set my website with wordpress is the best option.

Once you have WP installed, you can install Customizr theme from the Dashboard of your site. Here’ lots of good info about how to use WP:
