• Hi there,

I’m completely new to this forum and have very limited knowledge of WP. Chances are high that my mistake is completely stupid.

Now, I’ve recently added WPPA+ to my site and wanted to get started on setting up a first album. For testing purposes I uploaded only 3 pics. I could add information to the pics, so that worked fine. However, when I wanted to actually display the album, WP doesn’t keep the information in the respective block.

    What happened:
I placed a title, all good. I placed a static picture beneath, all good.
Then I placed an Album below that, the settings page appeared and I filled them in, but as soon as I clicked outside the box, everything disappeared again.
What’s going on there? I’ve tried 5 times and more by now and nothing changes. All the settings simply disappear once I try to “save” them.

    Best regards,
    Liko

As soon as the shortcodegenerator has enough info to create a working shortcode, there is a button Ready right below the shortcode preview box. Click that button and the shortcode will be inserted on the page/post.

Hi there and thanks for the response.

Funnywise, somehow out of nothing, another block appeared just below the settings block where I could paste my shortcode into. The button you’re talking about however, doesn’t show. I have absolutely no clou why. The solution would be to simply generate the shortcode and figure out how to create the shortcode box for it.

Yet, I do have another question:
If you take a look at the link: Species Log (edit: Link doesn’t work!! – darn!)
You’ll see the album covers on top of the photos. I’d prefer to only display the pictures without the album covers.
In a next step, I want to create a highly customized search UI that filters the pictures below in real time and leaves only those photos that fit the search query.

    The link worked.

This is a screenshot of the shortcode generator, i marked the ready button in yellow:
    https://wppa.nl/wp-content/uploads/wppa/4896.png
When you click the ready button, you will see:
    https://wppa.nl/wp-content/uploads/wppa/4897.png

The basic shortcode for wppa is [wppa]
If you want to show the thumbnails of album 7 make it [wppa type=”thumbs” album=”7″]

There are a million ways to add attributes to the shortcode – the shortcode generator can cover most of them – the doc is here:
    https://wppa.nl/shortcode-reference/

BTW: You can edit and copy the shortcode from the preview and paste it into a standard shortcode block.

    Hi there again,

That Ready-Button just doesn’t show up. No idea why.

The site runs on the following, if that helps:
    WP v5.3.2
PHP should be either 7.2 or 7.3 or 7.4
    WP SuperCache
    WP Theme: SimpleMag

Maybe it’s related to the block editor?

All the best and thanks heaps, for the plugin itself. The possibilities seem endless and I’m thrilled to dive deeper. Nest step is to create an amazing search UI. Hope’ll help me on that one too. :-DDD

    Nice site, Liko!
As for the image search, start looking into into https://wppa.nl/docs-by-subject/search/ (and the various branches/options in the right-hand widget “Pages Menu” … Happy diving ??

That Ready-Button just doesn’t show up. No idea why.

The button only shows up when the info is complete. It should be there initially when the shortcode preview displays [wppa]. If your screen is small you may need to scroll down.
