    Hi,

I have a problem with the product import. Every time I try to import some products I get the error: “There was an error uploading the file, please try again!”. I’ve tried different file types (csv and xls), different file templates, different information formats (eliminated special characters, removed image links) and nothing seems to work. Can you help me? Thank you.

  • Hello,

Make sure that the column title names are the same as the field names for products (ex: Name, Price, etc.), and that any categories and sub-categories are written exactly the same as they are online. Also, note that categories, sub-categories, tags and custom fields are not automatically created on import and need to exist before the import.

You can use the following template and try it again:

    Best regards,

Extremely helpful. Thank you for the template!

It still doesn’t work. The categories, subcategories are already created (I don’t use tags and custom fields at the moment), I’ve checked the spelling and even tried changing the column names in the .xls to romanian since the module is translated to my native language.

    Hi lilbe,

We’ve put together a very basic import sheet, with no categories, tags, etc. Try importing the following file (don’t change anything in it, but just import it as is): https://www.pastefile.com/VyELED.

    nope, still doesn’t work.

    Hi @lilbe ,

Do you receive an error after you try to upload your excel file?

yes, same error: “There was an error uploading the file, please try again!”

If you can’t import that simple spreadsheet, then there’s something specific to your site/setup/server that is causing a conflict with our plugin’s import feature.

Do you have any import/export plugins installed? Or does another plugin you have installed, or maybe your theme, have import/export functionality? Do they work?

One thing you can try doing is deactivating all other plugins except ours and then trying the import again. If it still doesn’t import, try also switching to a default WordPress theme.

I’m using another catalog plugin now and its csv import works.
