• I’ve just tried to import my elder posts, etc from blogger but when I’m trying to import it, suddenly appears error message like this:

Before you can upload your import file, you will need to fix the following error:

Unable to create directory //wp-content/uploads/2009/10. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

FYI, I use free hosted at byethost.org

Can someone help me please? thanks for your helpful answers..

  • directory //wp-content/uploads/2009/10
    1) you might have added an extra forward slash before wp-content when you set up the settings for uploading. Go to Dashboard > Settings > Miscellaneous and double-check that what you have there for “Store uploads in this folder” is plain wp-content/uploads/
    AND/OR
    2) If you have access to FTP with your free host, CHMOD the /10/ folder to 755 or 777 if necessary.
More likely it’s the solution is #1 assuming you copied and pasted the error information from your browser to this forum

//wp-content/uploads is filled in ‘Store uploads in this folder’

    uh, should be:
wp-content/uploads/ filled in ‘Store uploads in this folder’
no forward slashes at the beginning

I’m CHMOD 777 always every folder. so eazy
