• I’ve tried to get multiple widgets to show up –from various plugins, with various themes set, including Twenty Twelve, Twenty Thirteen, and now Twenty Sixteen– but I can’t seem to get them to show up.

I have my Front Page set to be the Posts Page (not static).

Jetpack’s widgets work. Others, like Custom Google Search, Patreon Site or Patreon Author Widget, don’t show up at all, even though they have no issue getting moved into a Sidebar or other Widget Area in the Customizer. They also all show up as they should (in the Widget Area) when I go to Appearance > Widgets.

What could be causing this? Everything is up-to-date, and I’m not using any customizations to the theme– I would make a child theme instead.

  • Hi, do you have a cache active on your site at all? Do the widgets appear within the live preview in the Customizer like they should?

Yes! I actually didn’t think of that. I have W3 Total Cache and WP Hummingbird. However, I have Minify turned off for W3 Total Cache since Hummingbird takes care of that.

Any suggestions for how I can use them and still get my plugin’s widgets to show up?

You’re probably looking at a cached version of your homepage, I’m quite sure you can disable caching for Administrators within W3 options?

Either way, you do need to clear your cache within W3, refresh your site and you should see your widgets.

Let me know how you get on.

Well, I tried it– I was able to find the Disable Caching for Logged In Users for W3TC’s Performance for the Network (Performance > Page Cache). I also emptied all the caches, but nothing has changed. I verified the widgets are still listed as being in the right place in Appearances > Widget. I also checked the Settings > Reading to verify my front page was set up as the Posts page.

I also checked in another browser (that I don’t use often), but still no luck.

Have you tried disabling all plugins using the default TwentySixteen theme? If your widgets still don’t show up then I’m not sure what else to suggest.
