I’ve installed Total Upkeep and registered with a free key.

I responded to the confirm account email and got a message that my account had been confirmed, but then got a blank screen.

Went back to my site and tried to load Total Upkeep settings. Settings won’t load.

Went back to plugins and tried to deactivate Total Upkeep. Won’t load.

Can I safely delete Total Upkeep through the plugins folder in the WordPress install on my webhost’s server, or does Total Upkeep store files elsewhere?

    Thanks.

    Hello @bobjones

Thanks for reaching out! The email address confirmation step is optional and wouldn’t be causing this issue, I suspect that something else might be causing that problem.

You can safely delete the plugin folder via FTP or SSH, but do keep in mind that the plugin also creates another directory called boldgrid_backup to store the backups. By default, that’s in your home directory to keep the backup files out of your public directory.

That said, we’d love to help troubleshoot further if you’d like to try. Did you get any error messages or notices? Did the rest of the dashboard work, only the plugins and Total Upkeep pages wouldn’t load?

    Thanks, Jesse.

The plugin finally deactivated after I selected the link and waited 15 minutes or so. I presume the dashboard would have loaded eventually if I had waited long enough.

However, waiting time for any plugin link should only be a few seconds. I’d like to use Total Upkeep, but I don’t see how if it behaves so sluggishly.

    Hi @bobjones,

Total Upkeep deactivations are generally instantaneous and we have not seen this particular problem before, we are not entirely sure why it took 15 minutes for the plugin deactivation to take effect.

Do you know if there is caching set to run in your WordPress admin panel? It’s possible that somehow a cached version of your admin was loading with Total Upkeep activated, although that seems unlikely.

Did the rest of your WordPress admin work as expected prior to deactivating Total Upkeep? Were there any error messages displayed that might indicate what the error was that took down the Settings and Plugins pages?
