Can't get to the dashboard after attempting upgrade to WP 3.4.1

  • I can’t use my dashboard admin panel after automatic upgrade to 3.4.1
    When I try to login, this address appears in the URL and nothing happens.

    /wp-admin/upgrade.php?_wp_http_referer=%2Fwp-admin%2F

    Any suggestions?

    I read this before posting my issue. I suppose that I can solve the issue by reinstalling WP manually via FTP but was hoping for a better solution. I can’t deactivate my plugins at this time since I can’t get on the back-end through the wp-admin panel and for some strange reason I can’t connect to my server at gotonames.com either.

    You can deactivate plugins if you have access to your admin panel, try deactivating all plugins. If you don’t have access to your admin panel, try manually resetting your plugins, using ftp rename plugins folder to plugins_hold and create a blank plugins folder If that resolves the issue, delete blank plugins folder and rename original back to plugins reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, try switching Twenty Eleven theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue. If you don’t have access to your admin panel, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the Default theme Twenty Ten theme (WordPress 3.0 and higher) to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue.

    The automatic update had failed and uploading the new wp-includes and wp-admin directories manually via FTP solved the issue.

    Thanks fiddlerman. I was starting to freak out. Just wanted to do a simple update and BAM!!…..stuff screws up. I will wait next time to update. Reuploading wp-admin & wp-includes FIXED my issue.

    Glad my post could help someone else.

    I added in the WordPress HTTPS (SSL) plugin and as soon as I did I got locked out from being able to access my dashboard! I went to the FAQ section for the plugin and it says to reset the plugin settings. It said to Go to /wp-content/plugins/wordpress-https/wordpress-https.php and uncomment (remove the two forward slashes before) the line below, or go to your wp-config.php file and add this line. Hit any page on your site, and then remove it or comment it out again.

    My question is, to access the /wp-content/plugin/wordpress-htpps/wordpress-https.php where do I go? Is this something I have to do via FTP?
