  • If you are using WP 2.7.1 (the latest) the themes functions are no longer found under “Design” but under “Appearance”, a button in the vertical left column of icons – sounds like you aer using older instructions.

Thanks for promt reply. Yes, I figure that out, I have also use appearance then New themes and all I see is the default and other choice. Why is it not working? When I go to File manager the themes are there, but somehow they do not download into Wp.

    Thanks!!

Did you upload the theme zip files, or did you take the folder out of the zip file and upload the folder – that is what must be done. WP will not extract the folder from the zip file.

To clarify on what stvwlf properly suggested, having any compressed file will not work. Also having the theme in a folder within that folder will not work. Make sure you have your folder in the right location.

The theme folder, with all the theme files, needs to go in wp-content/themes. An example would be if you had a template called mytemplate. If your folder was mytemplate1.0.1/mytemplate. You would not put mytemplate1.0.1 in the themes folder, but the mytemplate folder in that folder.
    wp-content/themes/mytemplate.

If that makes you more confused, just try whatever part of it makes sense or ignore the comment and do as stvwlf already said.
