Can't get speeds up

I’m not a super technical person but I have been trying diligently to follow the instructions for your plugin and I’m still getting a message in Google Page Speed Insights that says “Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content. Your page has 26 blocking script resources and 19 blocking CSS resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page. None of the above-the-fold content on your page could be rendered without waiting for the following resources to load. Try to defer or asynchronously load blocking resources, or inline the critical portions of those resources directly in the HTML.” I have copied and pasted the bad scripts into the Javascript and CSS “name” fields under Page Speed settings. Is that right? What terms do I enter under Javascript Code and CSS Code? (I put jquery under Javascript and style under CSS). I really need to get this problem solved. Currently I have a 60/100 score for mobile and a 75/100 for desktop. I’ve already spent hours trying to solve this. Thank you.
