Can’t get rid of mysterious line

Look at your page source; you’re loading five other CSS files in the minimalist theme, all five a variation on color,

etc., and all of them have a variation on:

I’m not sure I understand. What do I have to do to fix this?

Look at the “white” style URL: the theme has that and five other style sheets in minimalist/styles/ Edit the dashed line CSS out of the one you’re using, or all of them. And look at the themes’ options to see if you can select them to not load.

May I ask you for one more favour, please? This is something I just noticed by accident. When on my site, using the draggable right hand corner of your browser, drag the window smaller to a point where the sidebar (Pages, Blog, etc) is no longer visible. Now, notice how the scroll bar doesn’t allow you to scroll to the left to reveal it again. Any idea on why that is?

The sidebar is always a little out of the window in Safari and Firefox without dragging the window. Looks like there’s an extra </div> in your footer: [Invalid] Markup Validation of https://www.constantincerdan.com/ – W3C Markup Validator and that will throw display off…..

Again, thanks for the help. I’ve removed the extra </div> in the footer and have cleaned up a few other things: Validation. I’m still trying to figure out what the remaining 5 errors are asking of me.

The problem is, however, still occurring. I’ve tried adding some padding so that it stops at a certain point, but that just shifts the whole layout back to the right again – so I’ve had to undo that. Is there any way to do this and avoid shifting the layout?

Try putting that </div> back in for a minute. Have you done other editing to the theme? Might try a fresh copy of the theme, renaming it to something as to not confuse it with the exisiting theme. If a fresh copy displays right, then swap it in, as something went wrong with your edits on the current theme. If the new theme still displays wrong, then it’s something with the CSS that will take more work to figure out.

I tried putting it back in and taking it out and it does nothing really. The big edit I did to the theme was to shift the entire layout to the left as at first it was smack in the centre and that didn’t allow me to display photos side by side. I tried the whole swapping the new one in, but when I uploaded it as a different name, and then went to the theme chooser it said my current theme was the one I’d just uploaded…even though all I’d done was just upload it. I didn’t want to do anything else in case I screwed anything up.

To be honest, I think it’s actually just the way I’ve moved the layout to the left. I think my code is a bit sloppy and might be the reason for this. Check it out:

Ok, I think I’ve fixed it. I changed the margin-left: from auto to 100px.

Looks like it’s fixed in both Safari and Firefox. Check in IE, too, unless that’s what you’re already using….
