Trying to set this up for my site but I keep getting stuck on the Verify site ownership step. After signing into my Google account and agreeing to all the permissions, I click proceed on step 1 to add a verification token to the site HTML code and the page just refreshes and does nothing.

I’ve tried removing and reinstalling the plugin, I’ve tried removing the permissions from Google Account settings, I’ve tried clearing the plugin data, I’ve tried different browsers, I’ve tried clearing cache. Still nothing.

You don’t need access to the site to test it. You can test using a customer account that does not have access to the back-end dashboard or anything.

I’ve posted in the Tag Manager forums. I’m not really sure where else to take the issue.

@jamesosborne How did you arrive at the conclusion that it is the Tag Manager container and a third party plugin causing this?

@admindroidturf You mentioned previously that the same issue occurs when you manually place the Tag Manager snippet.

I’ve done a bit more research into this and it appears the issue is not with Tag Manager. Whenever any code is added to the header I’m getting this problem. Whether it’s manually, through a header injection plugin, or another like sitekit. All produce the same issue with the Ultimate member plugin. I’ve tried posting in their forums as well. Any suggestions as for next steps?

@admindroidturf Nice troubleshooting. From my side I’ve tested Tag Manager today and I’m unable to reproduce the same issue when adding code using a custom HTML tag, you can see here. Although the content wasn’t added to the header I’ll try another plugin today with a header script insert.

In your case it may be a combination of the content you’re inserting, along with your Ultimate Members configuration, I haven’t extensively tested the plugin myself.

If you are able to find out more you could try the Ultimate Member GitHub.

Also if you find any issue specific to Site Kit feel free to raise a support topic here also and we’d be happy to investigate further. Thanks for the update.
