Can't get page template to display (ACF w/ Insert Pages)

I have a page template called events-tab.php (in a templates subfolder) that utilizes Advanced Custom Fields to pull in content and format a page. When I view that page directly (via making a blank page in the WP Admin called Tab-Event, choosing Events Tab from the page template drop-down list, saving it, and then clicking View Page), the content shows and it’s all good, hooray, yeah!, etc.
However, when I try to use Insert Pages for an area on my homepage that has three tabs, the Events tab does not populate. It was set to display=’content’ so I understood it being blank. I changed it to ‘all’ and it just shows the page title. When I change it to display=’templates/events-tab.php’ it basically breaks the page in that it takes about a minute to load, and then doesn’t load pass that section of the page anyway.
How can I fix this? I’d like to be able to pull in my page template to that tab.
