    ceconn.com

    1) I did a complete backup and FTP’d files to new host. WP installation is in Root, therefore it does not have a folder of its own.
    2) The main domain was screwed – looked like in its raw form, no theme.
    3) Checked and the themes are in the Theme folder but don’t show up in Themes in Dashboard. But I could get into ceconn.com/wp-admin to check
    4) Thought maybe if I put WordPress in its own folder something would go right. Made change in URL in “Options” according to instructions, pointing to where core WP files would be – in this case “ceconn.com/wordpresscorefiles”. Maybe the themes would show up. Wrong. Getting “Forbidden” error when trying to get back into wp-admin.
    5) Tried to reverse action. Made no difference.
    6) Called for help. Was given instructions on making correction in MyAdmin. Followed instructions and changed “Options” back to ceconn.com. Guess what? No Change.
    7) Installed WordPress again thinking any missing files would be overridden. Tried to use Admin/upgrade.php. Got Forbidden message.

This managed to screw up all the sub-domains as well.

Any ideas? The following is the error:
    “Forbidden
You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Well, that didn’t work so I moved it back to public_html. I’m running out of ideas.

Guess what? I created a folder called “ceconn” and saved it in public_html. I then moved all the files in my root to “ceconn”.
Using Fantastico, I installed a fresh copy of WordPress in the root.
I changed the wp-config.php information with my database info and, Bingo, I had a site. I then installed my old theme. It worked.
I’m still tweaking but the main things are done.

What a job. I just don’t understand why this wasn’t easier. After all, I had done a complete backup and FTP’d it to the new host.

Oh well, ours is not to reason why.
