    ceconn.com

    1) I did a complete backup and FTP’d files to new host. WP installation is in Root, therefore it does not have a folder of its own.
    2) The main domain was screwed – looked like in its raw form, no theme.
    3) Checked and the themes are in the Theme folder but don’t show up in Themes in Dashboard. But I could get into ceconn.com/wp-admin to check
    4) Thought maybe if I put WordPress in its own folder something would go right. Made change in URL in “Options” according to instructions, pointing to where core WP files would be – in this case “ceconn.com/wordpresscorefiles”. Maybe the themes would show up. Wrong. Getting “Forbidden” error when trying to get back into wp-admin.
    5) Tried to reverse action. Made no difference.
    6) Called for help. Was given instructions on making correction in MyAdmin. Followed instructions and changed “Options” back to ceconn.com. Guess what? No Change.
    7) Installed WordPress again thinking any missing files would be overridden. Tried to use Admin/upgrade.php. Got Forbidden message.

    This managed to screw up all the sub-domains as well.

    Any ideas? The following is the error:
    “Forbidden
    You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin on this server.

    Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    I know. I’ve been crying for help but ………….

    To continue. The “forbidden” error was not my fault but my new host. That’s fixed. However, I still don’t have themes in my site showing up.

    Can you change to the Default theme? If not, delete the themes folder (wp-content/themes) and upload just the wp-content/themes folder from the 2.5.1 WordPress distribution available from the Download tab at the top of this page.

    Then can you see the Default theme as a choice?

    None of the themes are visible in Dashboard. I will do as you suggest and get back to you. Thank you.

    I did as you suggested but nothing. Still nothing in Dashboard. Well, except a frame with small red x where the theme should have been.

    I’m troubleshooting here and wondering about the following files in my /home/ folder should not be there or should be somewhere else. They are as follows:
    .addon-installolg; .addonscgi-Coppermine; .addonscgi-Geeklog; .addonscgi-MamboOpenSource; .bash_logout; .bash_profile; .bashrc; .contactemail; cpaddons_notify; .cpanel-ducache; .filter; .ftpquote; .htaccess.bak; .htaccess.bk; .htaccess.bk1; .htaccess.txt; .htaccess2; .lastlogin; .mailboxlist; .spamassassinboxeanble; .spamassassinenable; .zshrc;

    I also have the following strange looking folders in the /home/ file:
    .paddons; .cpanel; .cpanel-datastore; .fantasticodata; .htpasswds; .neomail; spamassassin; .htpasswds; .neomail; .spamassassin; sqmaildata; .trash
    access-logs; cgi-bin; cpmove.psql; etc; logs; mail;

    I suspect the last two or three folders might be important – but all of them?

    I’m just trying to get to the root of my problem with my main domain.

    Any ideas?

    If you moved to a new host, and you just moved WordPress files, hard to see why you have all those files. Check out the standard WordPress distribution (Download via tab at top of this page) for what is included in a WordPress install.

    I suspect my not being able to see templates has something to do with my host. I don’t know why I say that but I’ve checked and tripple checked everything else.

    What do you think about putting my main domain in a folder named “ceconn” in public_html? The files are not in a public_html folder now. The files are all just in the /home/cecon46/ folder.

    Do you think it’s worth a try?

    I don’t know if that helps

    I’m sorry, I made a mistake. The wp files are in public_html folder but not in a “ceconn” folder within public_html

    Hosts that use cPanel typically assign your web-root folder to be public_html. Might want to bring that up with your host.

    (@rikkidegraz)

    OK, so if I create a folder called, ceconn, and put the wp files in that folder in public_html, will my web address still be ceconn.com?

    If I’ve confused you then apologies. If ceconn.com is your main domain, then you will need wordpress to be in the public_html folder.

    That’s where it is now, but the reason I’m doing all this questing for help, the templates don’t show up. My main site is UGLY. I’m just trying to figure out what I can do to fix this problem.

    Yes, the site is currently in public_html. I was hoping if I moved it to a folder within public_html, the templates would appear.

    I guess, I’ll just do it and see what happens.
