Earlier this afternoon, I was trying to delete the ‘facebook like’ button (via previously installed plug in) from my very first published post. It was appearing before the post itself, which I wanted removed.

After clicking ‘update’ when trying to delete some code in the plug-in, (which I now realize was a no-no), the screen went blank, as if about to switch to the next step. Nothing appeared after waiting. I opened a new tab to try to sign into either my blog (as viewed by public) and/or sign into my dashboard – nothing is appearing at all with either effort.

I am unsure what next step to take to retrieve my blog and blog dashboard.
    Thank you,
    Leanne

  • You’ll need to use FTP or Cpanel to deactivate your plugins and/or theme. Which plugin and which theme were you modifying?

    Thanks WPyogi,
I was (trying to) modify facebook like button plug in.

Okay, so get FTP or Cpanel set up and connected to the server and then find that plugin’s folder here:

    wp-content
         plugins
facebook-like (or whatever the exact name is) - DELETE
                                                             THIS FOLDER

WPyogi, I did the above. Did nothing else.
Trying to sign into blog or dashboard, receiving message ‘error establishing database connection.’

    error establishing database connection

You should check with your hosting company about that.

Done, and I’m now in. Thank you so very much for your help, WPyogi.
