In the Filesystem Security page, under the File Permissions tab, in the scan area, all items are listed as either red or yellow. Whenever I click any of the Set Recommended Permissions buttons, I get a message a the top of the page:

The permissions for C:\\Inetpub\\vhosts\\blahblahblah.com/wp-config.php were succesfully changed to 0644.

(I changed some of the path to blahblahblah here.) This looks like a success message, but I get the exact same message, with the same path and the same 0644 permissions value regardless of which file or directory I’m attempting to change, and regardless of what the recommended permissions are. And if I come back to this page, nothing has changed – no permissions have changed, and all the reds are still red and the yellows are still yellow. (Also, the word “successfully” is not spelled correctly in that success message.)

    I am using Google Chrome.

Any thoughts on what might be doing wrong, or how I can get this feature to work?

Hi, are you running your site locally using Xampp or something similar running in Windows? If you are then you really can’t change your file permissions via the plugin.

Let me know if this is your situation.

    Thank you

I am using A2Hosting, which is running Windows Server for my shared hosting account. They provide WordPress and access to a lot of plugins including yours.

Are there some guidelines somewhere on how to set the permissions properly in Windows Server to match your recommended permission settings?

Unfortunately I don’t use Windows servers myself. You will have to google search for this type of information.

Let me know what you find. If you find a solution, you might like to share this information here for others to read.

    Kind regards
