• I’m afraid I seem to be clueless as to the installation of the SQL database. As far as I know, I have a new database set up and running (so says my phpMyadmin) but when I try to run the install.php I keep getting the “Error establishing a database connection!” line. I’ve checked the user name and password and they’re correct and the database seems to be working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. At this point I’m feeling quite lame and will assume that I have no clue what I’m doing and have to start at the very beginning regarding mySQL databases and permissions, etc.
    Thanks
    K

  • Database name right ?
Do you (the username) have full permissions over the database ?

re-check your username, password, db name. check for prefixes. some hosts require you to put before your username and db name a prefix like your domain name.
e.g. in https://www.premrara.com, db name would be premrara_prem, username premrara_premrara

As far as I know, everything is correct with the name and password (and the localhost as well). I’ve tried the file both ways, with my site name prefix and without, both give me the same result. I also assume I have full permission on the database. I also gave complete access to all possible accounts in the database manager.
As I said, I’m really clueless here as to what I’m doing wrong. Perhaps my site host has something to do with it?
