• Hello,

for the last years I used the “Classic Editor” Plugin.

Now to use an other Plugin, I need the Block Editor.

I disabled the Classic Editor Plugin and got the Block Editor. But just for some minutes. After working a bit, I got the Classic Editor Back for no reason.

Even that the Classic Editor Plugin was still deactivated and even after deleting the Classic Editor Plugin.

So now im stuck with the Classic Editor.

Things I tried to fix it:

    Reinstall the latest WordPress Version

    Installing the Gutenberg Plugin

Deinstall, Reinstall and Deinstall the Classic Editor Plugin a few times

Change under “Settings” -> “Write” the setting to use Block Editor

Nothing from this fixed the problem.

Here are a few things to notice: It’s a live website with many visitors all day. So I can’t disable all the plugins and turn one by one on. I also can’t change the theme. I would also prefer not to work with a staging site. Do you know any way to fix that?

  • Hi @champlife ! Do you have a page builder plugin installed? Some of them have a setting to disable the block editor.

Otherwise, you can try using the Health check plugin. This will give you additional options under Tools > Site health. You can start a troubleshooting sessions here, which will let you load your site without any plugins or themes, without affecting your site for visitors.

In the troubleshooting mode, you can use Enable while troubleshooting option with various plugins, and find out which one is causing the issue. You can find out more about this process here.
