I am trying to create a WordPress site. My home page has text on it that I was able to edit by editing the home page and then scrolling down to the lower half of the editing screen and clicking on a purple button labeled Text. But then I clicked on theme builder and this function has disappeared. How do I get my text editor on my home page back? The text still shows when I visit the site. I just can’t edit it now.

  • Many page builders store their content in a proprietary way, and let you edit it only from the front of your site.

If you tell us what theme / page builder you’re using, then someone should be able to give you slightly more detailed information.

    Good luck!

Themify Ultra is the theme. To edit the site I just do http:sitename/wp-admin and edit the home page.

Perhaps you can give a link to the site?

Why? The site looks the way it’s supposed to look. I just can’t get at the text to change it. I’m sure it’s something simple.

Can anyone help me with this?

Text may be put there in different ways. Without a link to the site, nobody will be able to even guess what may have happened (page builder issue, page content, widget, weird css positioning, etc…)

You want a link to the actual site? Or the dashboard?

No. Nobody here should ever ask for access to your admin area. I was just asking about a link to the public part of the site, so that I could see myself what you’re asking about…

You cannot see it on the site. Not at all. The problem is in the editor.

    Ah. OK.
    Hmm. Try the following.
    – Open the “Screen options” fold-down in the top row, and hide ALL toggable elements, to see if this will hide this word. If it belongs to a certain admin-widget, then your search sector gets much smaller.

    – Using Chrome, Firefox or another browser with basic dev-tools,
right-click on the strange word and choose “Inspect” or similar.
There might be a class-id or similar, that could give a hint about from where this thing originates, or the surrounding html gives you a clue (or at least some text you can GREP for.)

Okay! I found it! I clicked on a down arrow and then clicked on Themify Builder and the purple buttons appeared. Now I can get at my text. That appears to solve this problem, at least.

    Thanks for your help.
