• i’m trying to migrate my wife’s blog on 1&1 to another account, but have lost her latest content … and boy am i in trouble.

originally, she utilized an installation i set up, and i’ve been successful in exporting/importing that content.

but after a couple years, she switched her blog to one that 1&1 offered as one of it’s website applications, which must have been set up in a subdomain. but now when i “launch” that blog, and export the content, it is producing the xml of the first on i set up, and none of the subsequent years of entries.

i’ve tried accessing the sql data (and placed on a ‘myphpadmin’ screen), but ignorance has left me totally lost as to whether there’s any possible solution there for finding the most current files.

when the blog is accessed now, displays ONLY the subsequent entries, but has no archive of the old ones i seem to have found and imported in my new install.

    any ideas?

    thanks, wes

  • migrate my wife’s blog on 1&1 to another account

Assuming that your account is current with 1&1, without needing to tell them you’re moving to another account, request for their last saved SQL backup of your wife’s account.
Good webhosts back up sites’ files/folders and SQL’s at least once a week.

she switched her blog to one that 1&1 offered as one of it’s website applications,

Again, if your account is current, ask for the backup of that SQL file. Btw, is “one of it’s website applications” WordPress or another blog/CMS?

hi, thanks for the reply and suggestion. i’ll do that right away.

“Btw, is “one of it’s website applications” WordPress or another blog/CMS?” the app was a wordpress blog, but either it was a much older and un-updated version, or else it was a stripped down version.
