We have a beekeeping website [ redundant link removed ] and have the AMR Users plug-in installed. I am trying to upgrade to the pro version and am having some difficulties. If I go to the “Plugins” section on my WP dashboard, I see the amr users plugin and am unable to find the pro version: I click “Add New”, search for “amr”, and only see the free plugin that I already have.

I can find the pro version externally, of course. From my “User Lists” section of the dashboard I did find an upgrade link. I followed this and paid for the upgrade, but unfortunately it did not magically appear on my site (go figure).

AMR, I sent you a separate email with more details. At a bit of a loss so will wait for your reply here or via email. Putting this post up in hopes of helping others in the future with a similar problem.

For the benefit of others, it is looking like the site Erik is working with never had a purchased amr-users-plus addon.

Re the ‘upgrade’link that Erik mentions. It takes on to https://wpusersplugin.com/related-plugins/. A human still has to decide which additional functionality they want and after buying one of the add-ons, a human still has to manually install the addon plugin from the zip file oneself, the first time.

For most addons, once installed and a license key entered, then auto updates will work.

For the avoidance of any future confusion, perhaps I shall probably change the text ‘upgrade’ to something like ‘add functionality’?

Thanks, Anmari. I did think we had a prior purchase, though my big challenge was understanding that the “amr users” and “amr users plus” are two different plug ins. Really appreciate your email correspondence and assistance in correcting my understanding here.

My expectation was that “upgrade” meant that I had to replace the existing plugin with the plus version. I was looking for a way to enter or otherwise install the upgraded version and replace what was already there. I’m not sure renaming the menu would help – my suggestion would be to add some instructions there to walk the slow-minded like myself through the exact steps to add the plus or other functionality.

Once I understood the plus add-on was separate, I downloaded the zip file, uploaded the file from WordPress with the Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin options in the Dashboard, from where I could browse to the file and install it. I seem to be set now with both “amr users” and “amr users plus” plugins installed and the plus functionality working.

    Thank you again,
    Erik

@anmari When someone asks about the pro version, try a reply like this one:

Hi! I’d like to answer this query but I already know that supporting pro questions could put my account and plugin here on www.remarpro.com in jeopardy and no one wants that. Can you contact me instead on <USEFUL LINK GOES HERE> and we’ll take care of this.

    Or something like that.

@erikebrown For pro or commercial product support please contact the developer directly on their site. This includes any pre-sales topics as well.

    https://wpusersplugin.com/login/
    https://wpusersplugin.com/support/

As the developer is aware, commercial products are not supported in these forums. I am sure they will have no problem supporting you there.

Seriously, if this happens again then this will be reported to the plugins team.
