• I’m new to WordPress – I found a group of EDUCATION themes and I was happy as a clam that I had found them. But I got pulled away for a while, and when I came back, I inadvertently closed that browser session – so I went back out to the THEMES section and entered both ‘education’ and then ‘education themes’ into the search window but to no avail – in the first instance, I got a ‘no results’ message and in the second, I was directed to a different place on the WP site. I’ve just burned one hell of a lot of time trying to find those EDUCATION themes with no success.

    Any suggestion?

    Thanks.

    Doug

  • Well, and this is just an EDUCATED guess, mind you, but you might be able to find some ideas and links to popular WordPress EDUCATION themes by plodding around in here for a while; WordPress EDUCATION themes [ link removed ]

Yeah – I tried that – that block of EDUCATION themes was definitely on the WP site – lots of nice templates – the ED themes at those external links just didn’t match up.

    Thanks anyway.

Please don’t recommend using search engines for looking for WordPress themes. You can find some really scary themes that way, best to avoid those unless you know what you’re doing.

See https://www.chipbennett.net/2010/12/10/only-download-wordpress-themes-from-trusted-sources/ for a good example of what I mean.

    Finally …

I just found that lost section on the WP site – I Googled the following term: “colleges and universities using wordpress themes”.

    I then got this page:

Yes, yes, of course. Completely my bad. It’s pretty easy to forget that everyone has a different level of experience with WordPress, and that not everyone’s first reaction is to use common sense and good judgement when making decisions about what they find on the internet.

On the other hand, if one were considering actually purchasing a commercial theme relevant to a specific subject matter, it (Google) may be a somewhat common and pretty widely accepted approach to making informed decisions. The link to Google was intended as a source of IDEAS, and direction. Treating it like a link to a viral payload did make me smile a bit, though. I’ll be a little more cautious with my wording in the future, for the safety of those who are unaware of the pitfalls you mention. Thx!
