• Hi
    So we had created a website back in 2012. The site link is [ redundant link removed, just use the link field ]

    Since then the first person who created this has exited our organisation. Now I’m trying to edit this site to remove some tabs in the main menu and add another tab
    but the issue is I can’t seem to find the Appearance section in admin dashboard to edit menus. any way how I can resolve this?

    Wordpress version is 3.5.1

    Thank you

  • Possibly this page just hidden from menu. You can try to access it by adding ‘/wp-admin/nav-menus.php’ to your domain name.

    Hi Olga thank you for replying. I tried adding /wp-admin/nav-menus.php to my domain name and it showed me error *You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page*

    Is it possible that the login I have been provided does not have administrative privileges and if that’s the case does it mean that several users can access the dashboard?

    Thankyou

    Can you access users page and see what are your rights and are there other users? If you don’t see it in admin, so probably not. It’s “/wp-admin/users.php”.

    The easiest way to get full rights – through database. You need to use phpMyAdmin to make changes in database, it’s usually have link in your hosting account.

    You need to know your user_id, you can see it in a “Edit” link attached to your account in admin on All users page or in wp_users table (they can have different prefix) and then find in wp_usermeta table line where user_id=’YOUR ID’ AND meta_key=’wp_capabilities’ and change value to

    a:1:{s:13:”administrator”;b:1;}

    Be careful, this value is serialized. Make sure to have a backup and know how to restore from it, just in case.
