One of the very first things I wanted to do after setting up my first WordPress blog was to bring in some of my own YouTube video clips. YouTube asked for my WordPress API Key. So I followed the instructions on WordPress which was basically: “go to Dashboard, click users, click your profile, look in the upper right to get your API Key.

So I did that. It asks me to log in again, so I put in my user name and password and it won’t accept it! It says it’s incorrect.

What’s going on? I need that API key. What am I doing wrong?

I am having a similar issue. I have a self hosted blog and I am trying to get my blog to set up on YouTube. However, it asks me for my api key to do so. I follow the instructions on how to find it on my profile but it is not there. How can I find my api key to set my blog up on YouTube?

I cannot even find the Api key at the moment. Using the laters version. I probably cannot see for looking as the old expression goes.
Can anyone help. Cannote see it top right as suggested.

only registed wordpress.com users have API.

So then why does YouTube say that “WordPress Self-Hosted: Requires an API key and the API URL”

Aren’t www.remarpro.com users self-hosted? If it’s the other way around, maybe Youtube shouldn’t ask self-hosted users for the api key if none is provided by www.remarpro.com.

I am very confused. I do hope someone can shed some light on this as I am trying to connect my YouTube updates with my self-hosted blog on www.remarpro.com account.

API key found in your wordpress.com account is what you’re gonna use in your self-hosted wordpress. Didn’t you atleast try before you complain?

Create a new account on https://wordpress.com and check the api key in your profile page.

So I tried using the API key from wordpress.com for the Youtube Self Hosted as well and it just doesn’t work.

I am having the same problem. I did find some excellent instructions, but they only get you to a certain point (and that is if you are looking for an API key for akismet). See link below. So, if you’ve signed up for a wordpress.com account and have a self-hosted site, what’s next, how do you connect the two without using the akismet plugin as I only need the API key for Youtube?
