• I need an API key to get a plugin but i can’t seem to find it. I accessed wordpress through my hostgater account I didn’t download it. Not sure if that matters. The directions i have found say to go to my profile from the dashboard but i don’t see any indication of an API number there. Can someone direct me? I know it is probably right under my nose.

  • You have to have a WordPress.com account. Once you have one login, click “Global Dashboard” under the “My Account” drop down menu, next click “my profile” in the top right corner and you will see it.

    Thanks Terry

Crater, did you ever find your key?
I think I might be in the same position as you in that I created my wordpress account through godaddy, although to all intents and purposes i do have a wordpress.com account.

does this make a difference? I hear what terry is saying but i already have my entire account through the godaddy setup and don’t want to start again from scratch by making a new one.

i’m so confused by all this!

    hope you can help

Same issue. I just tried to install Akismet and was asked to supply the API number. I have a WP account, otherwise I couldnt be adding this post. I guess what is needed is a WP blogging account. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

    Thnx

    I think your right Grantmaker,

Godaddy needs to change it’s settings. For all you Godaddy and other hosting account users you might have to call technical support & let them give one.

You would think no matter who you set up a wp account with it should work but it doesn’t.

    This Suckssss

If u have the time and patience try going to your edit theme area and look for it which I won’t do…
