Cant Exclude Gift Card

I have been using plugin seamlessly for a few months now with zero issues. Today we added virtual gift cards for our customers to buy at a discounted rate. Problem is we cannot have a virtual gift card count towards free gifts at amounts you spend with us. I have added it to excluded products in the rules each one and no matter what I do or how I do it, it willnot work. It keeps trying to give them free products if they add a virtual giftcard to their basket. I could really use help here as I have even deleted all the rules and tried to redo with zero sucess!
