• Hi, I’ve uploaded the wordpress folder and opened the wp-config.php file, and added the login info I use for normally uploading to my .ftp server. However I get an “Error establishing database connection” message. “This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server” Should I be using the same login info as I use to upload to the server? I am completely stuck. Thanks.

I have not heard of this, so just to check I built a clean wordpress installation, on a local server I must admit, with the default wordpress directory and default wordpress DB and have had no problems whatever. All loaded and worked fine, though I haven’t fully tested it yet it is there and runs fine.

On the off chance that the information may be legitimate, would a moderator be kind enough to remove the user info from the wp-config code posted above?

    Thanks!

Make sure you are using your ftp credentials and not your database credentials in dreamweaver. Don’t know what you mean here. You mean create and FTP username, password

That’s exactly what I mean. Make sure you are using the ftp account address, ftp user name and ftp account user password that your host gave you, in dreamweaver. Not anything related to the the database user information.

I recommend you take a breather and do some light reading to try and help clear up some of the questions you might have. Here is a great place to start.
