    Hi,

I run a lot of client website that are running WP and WordFence on SiteGround and I can’t for the life of me get extended protection working.

I have tried with .user.ini, adding it to php.ini and .htaccess

currently .htaccess has the code to reference user.ini so does php.ini

When I attempt to use php_value in .htaccess it throws 500 server error.

When I visit “Click to view your system’s configuration in a new window” it gives me nothing but the word “HipHop” in the top left on the page like this:
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5lCFtRc60NmaXkybDhoVHJBSjQ/view?usp=sharing

    Env:
    PHP 5.6.99-hhvm
    HHVM 3.6.0-dev
    Apache 2.4.25
    Wordpress 4.8.1

So any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

  • Hi @aedelgod,

At this stage, I believe it would be best to start with a clean slate. Therefore I suggest you manually remove the firewall setup.

Then you might need to set the auto_prepend_file directive in the PHP Variables Manager via your site’s cPanel as outlined in our documentation.

Regarding the “Click to view your system’s configuration in a new window” link not opening the Wordfence System Info page, can you confirm this is happening when you’re using a default theme?

Hi @wfyann I did that but got the same results. It looks like Wordfence may not be compatible with the HHVM engine, not sure what the disconnect may be with it.

    Hi @aedelgod,

Could you check that the setting specified for the optimization is consistent with your actual configuration.

In order to find out which Firewall setup you should be using:

    • Go to the Wordfence Tools page
    • Click the Diagnostics tab
    • In the Other Tests section (near the bottom of the page), click the link that reads “Click to view your system’s configuration in a new window“. This will open the Wordfence System Info page

Check the Server API field. Is it consistent with the parameter which is “Recommended based on our tests“?

Hi @wfyann please refer to my first message.

When I visit “Click to view your system’s configuration in a new window” it gives me nothing but the word “HipHop” in the top left on the page like this:

    Hi @aedelgod,

I forgot to check with you if you had switched to a default theme as suggested in my first reply; as the behavior you’re describing could be related to the theme you’re using as outlined in our documentation.

    Hi @wfyann

It seems the problem is actually the plugin not being compatible with HHVM. This was outlined in: https://docs.wordfence.com/en/Wordfence_system_requirements

Please note that HHVM is currently not supported due to stability issues within HHVM. As of 2017-05-25

Thanks for your help though, it would be great to get this compatible with HHVM for some of my older client’s websites that would take a lot of work to get working with PHP7. We are already developing current and future websites on PHP7. Thanks.

    Hi @aedelgod,

Thanks for the feedback… and for the link. I’m not sure how I missed that!

    Sorry about the confusion.
