• Hi,

Every time I visit the editor to edit the html, this is the error message I get

“You need to make this file writable before you can save your changes. See the Codex for more information.”

I have visited the codex page, but didn’t quite understand what needs to be changed in which file.

Some help with this will be really appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Ekta

  • Change the permissions on the your themes folder in the wp-content/themes directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767 or 777.

I’m sorry, esmi, but if you could help, I really need that broken down further.

I read through the codex “Changing_File_Permissions” but have trouble understanding it. My site is hosted via NetworkSolutions, so I can view files via their FileManager, but when I right click, as recommended in the codex under “Using an FTP Client,” I don’t see anything about file permissions.

Thanks for any further help you can offer.
