Can't Edit Text After Upgrading to 4.4.2

    I upgraded to WordPress 4.4.2 and I can no longer edit any text in the Post (or Page) text editor. Problem is in both Visual and Text editors.

    The editing tool bar also disappeared. If I try to type something in the text editor I can see the word count go up and red underlines appearing for spelling mistakes but no text is visible on the screen (as if the colour is white).

    I tried reinstalling 4.4.2, disabling and deleting all plugins without any help.

    Note: I have seen reports of this issue in this forum but with no real solution that could apply to my case. In some cases it turned out to be related to specific plugins which I don’t have.

    I really need help with this as I ran out of options.
