Can’t edit single-event.php

Similar to this topic, which did not provide the answer I need, I am having trouble editing single-event.php.

I’m on the free ver of the plugin, have “Use updated calendar designs” checked, and have the following child theme structure:

/tribe/events/v2/list
/tribe/events/v2/month

for the 2 views I have enabled.

However, editing any of the files in those 2 folders doesn’t change the actual single event page, so I need to edit single-event.php right? But no matter where I place the file in my child theme, changes are NOT recognised.

I’ve tried putting single-event.php in all of these locations:

/tribe/events/v2/single-event/single-event.php
/tribe/events/v2/single-event.php
/tribe/events/v2/list/single-event.php
/tribe/events/single-event.php
/tribe/events/single-event/single-event.php
/tribe-events/single-event.php

and nothing! What am I doing wrong?? I can edit almost everything EXCEPT single-event.php…

I’m on WP 5.5 and it says TEC is untested with this, so maybe this is a bug??
