Can’t edit pages made before install

    With EditorsKit active, most of my existing pages are uneditable. As soon as I click something on the page, it covers the whole editor in white and says “The editor has encountered an unexpected error.”

    My only options from there are Attempt Recovery (always fails), Copy Post Text (not very useful when the page has a complicated layout), and Copy Error (which I’ve pasted below).

    Note that this only happens with the Gutenburg plugin active.

    Here is the error that is produced:

    Also, I assume you may have the ‘Gutenberg plugin’ active; could you also deactivate that? You don’t need that as Gutenberg is already part of WordPress itself.

    As mentioned, I have already tried deactivating Gutenberg and the problem does go away, however I definitely do need to keep Gutenberg active because it includes new features that are not yet part of core, most importantly one to convert reusable blocks back to regular blocks. We use this to create reusable layout templates that can then be converted back to regular blocks and edited without affecting other pages. Removing this feature (by deactivating Gutenberg) is not an option.

    I will look to see if there are other plugins that might add this functionality without needing Gutenberg.

    I am away from my computer at the moment, but will try deactivating the typography add-on when I get back.

    When I went to disable the Typography Add-on, it was already switched to off. I tried again with it both enabled and disabled, and I’m still experiencing the problem.

    Did you try this with the latest version, 1.33.2?

    You can also try to disable the live preview option if that fixes your issue; here’s how:

    I have almost everything disabled, aside from a handful of features: https://imgur.com/a/zwHgWEG

    All plugins are up to date.

    I found another plugin that lets me convert reusable blocks, so for the time being I don’t need Gutenberg active, and things are working. Though there are some other (non-essential) new features in Gutenberg that would be nice to be able to use.

    Glad to hear that you got it to work already. From your screenshot, I can see the live preview option is enabled that I asked to disable in my previous response.

    Edit (just for info since this is resolved): Just tried it with Live Preview disabled, and still got the error with Gutenberg.
