can't edit my pages on my site – blank screen WP 4.4.2

  • I just can’t edit my pages on my site. I have just blank page when I try to edit the content of my main page. The same problem with plugins – I can’t open them(
    Could somebody advise something? I have this problem, because I had malware on my site and needed to clean the /plugins folder, and may be I deleted other needed WP files! What files may be we need to reinstall on our hosting?

  • Try:
    – switching to the default theme automatically by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and the wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Many thanks! That’s what I did, except the first suggestion! everything works!
    I didn’t rename theme folder, but just updated it through WP admin – it’s Quest Theme. Thanks, esmi! I did install WP Security Plugin afterwards to prevent such virus attacks in future, but I think I should check wp-content folder concerning viruses again…
