Can’t edit Duplicate Newsletter

    I’m attempting to duplicate and update a newsletter template that I have used for awhile. When I select duplicate I am not able to edit any of the information. It’s as if it has been saved and locked. I even attempt to Save and Preview and then select edit that way, but when it returns to the duplicated template it still appears to be locked. It was working the last time I sent a newsletter 9 days ago.

    I updated wordpress version 4.9.6

  • I found the only workaround is, after you’ve created your duplicate in the Newsletter plugin, to open your site database in phpmyadmin, find the table <yourprefix>_newsletter_emails, locate the duplicate you created in the list of newsletters (most likely the last/bottom one), click edit, scroll down to the options field, which will start with a:5. Change the a:5 to a:9 and save the change to the table. Refresh your Newsletter list in WordPress and it should be editable.

    BTW: for someone from the plugin devs to not respond in 4 months and 3 weeks is pretty bad.

    I found something that works slicker as far as I can see. Using phpmyadmin, instead of editing the Options section, there’s a Status section. If you change it from Sent to New, you get the editing tabs when you open the Newsletter you want to edit.

    A duplicated newsletter should be changed to “draft” and so editable. If this is not happening, it could be a recent bug.

    Just tested: when I press duplicated in a sent newsletter I can the edit the new copy since it is in draft mode.

    Let me know if that is not the way it works on your installation. How did you duplicate a newsletter?
