  • i can confirm this problem exists for version 2.2.0.4 and WP 4.1. dragging the thumbnails to re-order does nothing at all. they’re drag-able but they don’t fall into position.

Exactly! Nice to know that I am not the only person with this problem.

It should be working, the functionality is included and I have it working for me.

How many slides are in your slider? I’ll admit, the jQuery sortable script being used doesn’t do the best job of dragging and dropping – I’d prefer something a little more responsive to dragging – but it’s the same functionality as used in v2.1.4.3 and lower. Hasn’t changed.

I have only 4 slides in the slider. the sorting used to work fine but i cannot recall which version the plugin was at when i first started developing my client’s website. i have been keeping the plugin up-to-date all these while but i’ve not been using the sorting function. until i read about this issue from Matthew, i decided to check.

i have just tried your plugin on a clean WP 4.1 installation, with just 2 images, and the sorting function isn’t working either. i’ve even disabled all other plugins except Easing Slider and used stock themes like TwentyTwelve and TwentyFifteen and the thumbnails still won’t drop into any spot when dragged. even tested with both Firefox and Chrome browser.

Hi @kilzac, does it work when you have more than 4 slides? Maybe 6 or more?

Ahh yes it works if i have 6 slides, once the 2nd line is occupied by one thumbnail. looks like we’ve found the problem.

Yeah, the sortables script is functioning but not as well as I’d like. I’ll look into improving it! ??

great. if you could provide a quick fix in the associated file(s) before you release the next version, do post them here.

Will do, but it may be a little while before I get to looking into it. A couple of more serious bugs to resolve first! ?? It’s on the to-do list.

Currently we’re using the jQuery sortables script included with WordPress, so it may just be a case of tweaking some parameters.

If you’re up to it, don’t hesitate to give it a go yourself and submit a pull request to Github! Here’s the repository.

Understood, appreciate it. i’m not good enough with jQuery, so i’ll leave this to you and your team.

    Happy to help ??

Going to mark this topic as resolved for now. Feel free to reply if needed.

It isnt resolved until drag and drop works?
I had to delete and add the images in again to get 3 images in the right order

Hi @yanwhite, it works with more than 4 slides in a slider. Alternatively, you can simply change the image when editing the slide, rather than deleting and adding it again.

The topic was resolved as a conclusion was made and I feel that there isn’t much point in going around in circles discussing it – I’m working on it, nothing else that can be done unless someone else wants to contribute to development in resolving this issue on Github ??

We’re looking into it, as mentioned. We’re working flat out so have patience ?? It will be improved soon.

Here’s an easy fix in the meantime:
As long as there are two (or more) rows of icons, they can be reordered. So resize your browser window until there are two rows of icons, then move them around and save. Not sure if this will work with only two slides, but it worked with four just now when I tested it. If you only have one row of icons, reduce the width of your browser window to bump one onto the next line, then reorder them.
