• I have upgrade to 4.4 on several sites from 4.3.1, and can’t access any themes to delete them. I can activate them, but can’t delete!

are you saying that you can’t delete themes from your dashboard?

are you able to access your theme files via FTP client or webhosting to delete the themes?

Yes, I can delete them using FTP, but not from the dashboard

Trying clicking on Theme Details, then you should see a Red Delete link on the bottom-right. It will not let you delete the active theme or the parent theme if you are using a child theme.

Theme Details is NOT clickable, that’s the problem….

to be sure I understand, are you are clicking on the word delete in the theme details screen and the theme does not disappear

Can you replicate the problem using the default Twenty Fifteen theme with all plugins deactivated?

Fine for me with 4.4. Using a Twenty Twelve child theme at the moment. Happen to be using Firefox 42 in Windows 7 Pro 64bit.

Looks like it’s some kind of Javascript handling the Theme Details links. Hmmm..

The OP’s problem, from what I understand, is that clicking on “Theme Details” does nothing so never gets to the page that has the Delete link on it.

I am going to reboot my PC and double check some issues that may be the cause. I just installed Bitdefender 2016 this morning, and that might have some kind of influence. My Windows 10 background is now showing as an overlay on top of my Filezilla!

I just installed Bitdefender 2016 this morning

We have also had a report that BitDefender in particular was giving false warnings about malware on another site as well.

So yes, it seems likely that these might be related.

I’ve seen about a dozen reports – all naming Bitdefender – of malware alerts. Not one of the sites scanned has any problems.

Thanks, everyone. The problem has been resolved, although not sure which one of these was the culprit. I had trouble removing “Chromium” which apparently got downloaded yesterday when I downloaded some programs…..Audacity, and WhatsIP, which was a free app from the Microsoft Store. I was not able to uninstall Chromium (which apparently is a Yahoo search plugin that got piggybacked), but after uninstalling BitDefender, I was able to uninstall it. In addition, my monitor had to be put back to “Auto” as the screen was bigger than the monitor, which I believe happened when I installed BitDefender this morning.
I am going to reinstall BitDefender just to verify. If it causes issues, I will go back to Windows Defender default.
So, all my WP sites are now back to normal, and I can delete themes from the dashboard now.

For any one else landing here with a similar problem, BitDefender (& F-Protect) have recently issued updates to resolve this issue. Fully update your AV software and the issue will be resolved.
