Hi, I’m following Lynda.com tutorial of 3.3, and when creating a new page there are function buttons to delete the feeds, likes and comment. Yet on the 3.31 dashboard there’s none of this and i can’t get rid of the ‘thing’ -any suggestions? I’m no coder yet so a simple reply would be great.Regards – martin

I have never heard of any “function buttons to delete the feeds, likes and comment”. It seems like you must be referring to a plugin. There are no such buttons native to WordPress.

Hi Jonas – thanks for your reply; but great news I found it!! I was watching a tutorial on Lynda.com of an earlier version of word press which had all the editing options on view. So when writing a static page like comments you could turn off and disable the reply box that shows on the page to leave it clean. But on the new version its hidden in scroll options stuff. So to do it you have to open the page in edit and click the screen options on the upper right of the screen. That way a grey top bar with options appears. When ticking discussion the allow comment and track back and pings options appear on the edit page screen below the text input. So these options can be ticked to turn it off! So result, no comment box on static pages like about, contact and home – so can all just be on blog page if you want it !!! Regards Martin

Martin, you are a star. I have been trying to achieve this for days. I was on the point of looking for another Theme that more closely reflected my needs because other discussion threads appeared to trail off “unresolved”. I have now used your technique successfully and wear a broad smile!!! Cheers.
