Can't delete term_relationship rows for posts

    I’ve checked this very carefully. I can add categories to posts but can’t remove them. I see the rows being added to the term_relationships table when I add categories, but the rows are not deleted when I remove them using the category tool in the post editor. The categories remain checked in the editor and the corresponding table rows are not deleted.
    I have another installation of WP where this is working correctly. Since I have reinstalled all the WP files, deactivated all plugins, the bug is most likely in the database, but where? If I could just study the relevant php lines of code for this it might help but good luck finding that needle in a haystack. Is there any sort of error log for this?

  • Is your other installation of WP on the same server and using the same MYSQL user?

    It sounds like the MYSQL user you have specified in your config doesn’t have permissions to DELETE from the database.

    Brilliant — I must have forgotten to grant delete when I was locking everything down. Also explains why I couldn’t delete menu items. Thanks.
