Hi Christopher,
Yes it is really bizarre! I run a variety of plugins, including W3, Jetpack, WordPress SEO, Updraftplus, WP Touch, Wp to Twitter, Simple Social Icons, WordPress Simple Firewall, Broken Link Checker, WordPress Importer, Redirection, Conditional Captcha, Woo Sidebars, Amazon Associate, Ad Injection and WP Smush.
But let me start with this: over the past 2 weeks I’ve had database connection issues, and my hosting company determined that the yop poll plugin was causing drags on MySQL databases.
So I deleted the plugin from my WP dashboard, but there are still some files of it left in myMySQL databases and my cpanel file manager (my hosting has put in a ticket to remove the data.)
Could deleting that have caused the issue? Because the spam problem happened about 12 hours after I did that. It was also really weird because deleting the YOP plugin automatically deleted my P3 profiler plugin too.
Sorry for the ramble, but it’s amazing how much I’ve had to figure out with the Yop issue. It’s made me a little nuts.
Also, one last thing, the only spam messages I can’t delete, are all from the same sender: asdihvidhfsidfhgsdfgsdf.com
Any advice you have will be much appreciated :-).
Thanks!
