Hi there… since update, I am having trouble deactivating modules.. mostly I just keep deactivating them until it sticks… however can’t deactivate the sharing at all. Have disabled it from the ‘sharing’ page for now…

Thanks for the report! Could you provide me with a link to your site? It would also be helpful if you could let me know the exact steps that you are following that result in the problem. Please be sure to include any relevant URLs and error messages.

Just let me know about the above, and I’d be happy to look into this for you. Thanks!

    Sure, the site is paperkawaii.com.

I ended up installing this plugin: Module Control for Jetpack. To prevent the modules from being active.

So in the jetpack settings… Sharing and related posts are activated.
(They have been active for years)

When I try and deactivate them, one at a time… and then go to a different page and then return, they are active still.

I have tried a number of different methods like only deactivating one at a time, there is also a varnish cache, which I’ve cleared many times.

I have looked at the error log and found nothing… also no errors appear in the console.

Just letting you know I managed to disable the modules this morning.

This time I pressed the toggle buttons off. Then left it on that page for a long time. And finally they are off whoop!

Thanks for the update! I’m glad to hear that you were able to resolve the issue. Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you experience any further trouble.

I have the same problem with switching off the ‘related posts’ feature on my site https://grinshow.de

The switch on JP settings page shows ‘xxx has been deactivated’ message, but if I go to other page and return back to JP settings – the switch is still on.

It seems to be a problem with some URL rewrite on my site:

    admin.js?ver=4.4.1:9 POST https://grinshow.de/wp-json/jetpack/v4/module/related-posts/active 404 (Not Found)deactivateModule @ admin.js?ver=4.4.1:9(anonymous function)

    Similar problem solved here:

    Resolved.

There was a problem with apache2 configuration.
The ‘AllowOverride’ was set to ‘None’ for HTTPS version of the site.
I have set it to ‘All’. Now the JSON API is available and JP setting switches are working again.
