Can't Customize or Preview my themes

  • So when I go to the customize.php page either from my current theme’s customize link or from the theme Preview link, it doesn’t work. The only thing I see are the menu items down the side but no image in the main part of the screen.

    If I click on any of the menu items from the side (Site Title & Tagline, Colors, etc) nothing happens either. It does highlight the item that I clicked but the dropdown window doesn’t show up.

    I tried FF, Chrome, and IE and none of them work. I’ve tried a bunch of themes and it doesn’t work for any of them.

    Any idea what would cause this?

    I have this problem since the first time I log in to wordpress. I hope someone can answer this thread

    I’m also having this problem. I know you guys posted this 4-6 months ago, did you ever get help?

    I can’t believe that nobody helped you guys. I think I’ll just delete wordpress.

    i already find the solution for my problem. i hope this can help you all too. Check whether you have changed your domain name.

    Go to Settings -> General settings

    Check WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL)

    The default should be https://yourdomainname.com

    DO NOT add or change to something like https://www.yourdomainname.com

    Thanks for the advice, sadly it didn’t work. I might have to just give up on this whole wordpress thing and try blogger or something.

    Twenty fourteen works, but nothing else will load in live preview mode which makes me afraid to switch themes.

    live preview doesn′t work/no customization possible – the problem is still the same in WP 3.81 – there is no preview shown in Firefox and MSIE – but CHROME can show it (in my case)! Strange….

    So I looked around for a solution and found this closed threads about the same problem:

    I learned: the problem is in between wordpress, browsers and ZLIB (a serverside software to compress websites to make them faster)

    So first I tried the solution with the little Plugin mentioned in the first thread but it did not work.

    Then I remembered the .htaccess – and really, there I found the following code:

    php_flag zlib.output_compression on
    php_value zlib.output_compression_level 5

    I removed the code and the theme preview and customize is fine!

    But this is not a good solution because without compression the blog is much slower…

    If you have no .htaccess-file to make your own advices ask your provider or server admin, if they have activated zlib for your blog. May be the problem ist there!
