This kind of problem can happen because of a JavaScript error on your WordPress admin area. You can check JavaScript errors like this:

Usually JavaScript errors happen because of a plugin or theme conflict, so you could try running a plugin and theme conflict test:

If you find the conflicting plugin or theme, please let me know its name and we’ll run some tests. If the JavaScript error still appears when your only active plugin is Smart Slider running a WordPress default (Twenty*) theme then please send me a screenshot about the error. You can upload the screenshot e.g. to imgur.com and send me its link.
