It is well tested with the latest WordPress. I have just checked it again after hearing from you and works perfectly.

Maybe there is any other issue causing the problem on your site. I’d recommend you to check if there is any conflict with any other theme or plugin.

Thanks for checking. I have some new info on the issue. I was able to create a post using the Classic UI instead of the default.

Does that indicate what the problem might be?

It should work with the Gutenberg as well. No problem at all.
