• I know this has to be a server issue but hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I can save existing edited files without any issues but I cannot create new files or folders. I only have this issue on one server. When I try to create a file or folder I get a popup message:

    “Problem creating file /var/www/mysite/wp-content/themes/child/scripts/myscript.js0”

*not sure where the trailing 0 is coming from but maybe a clue.

I also verified the startup message says:
    WPIDE STARTUP CHECKS

    WordPress version = 3.6.1

    Web server user/group = www-data:www-data
    wp-content owner/group = www-data:www-data

wp-content folder exists and contains 6 files

Using the direct method of the WP filesystem API
The wp-content folder IS readable and IS writable by this method
The wp-content/plugins folder IS readable and IS writable by this method
The wp-content/themes folder IS readable and IS writable by this method

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • It’s more than likely something to do with the parent folder permissions which are stopping you from creating new files.

I try to activate the plugin and it comes back and asks “Are you sure you want to do that?” I click continue and the plugin doesn’t install or activate. What to do?

The folder permissions are set to 0755 same as parent…same as all folders on my site in wp-content area not to mention the startup checks say everything IS writable…I have no problems with wp media uploads and other plugins updating.
