Can’t copy & paste in classic editor

    After encountering editor problems with Gutenberg, I downloaded the Disable Gutenberg plugin and am now using the classic editor again. However, when I attempt to copy and paste text from another source, inc. email and a word document, it won’t show up in the ‘visual’ tab, only the ‘text’ tab. Why is this happening?

    I just tested this, after a fresh wp 5.1 install and disable gutenberg plugin (among a few other quite basic plugins).

    No problem copy and pasting into the visual tab and having it show up. One test was a copy and paste of some flat html from another site, another test was from a msft word document – specifically created with various fonts, sizes, colors. All worked fine.

    I’d suggest you may have a plugin causing issues?

    Had the same problem, installed the version 5.1 again and disabled/enabled the classic vs. block editor in the settings.
    Now I see my text again in the visual editor.

    Ok, after saving the article, everything was gone again…

    So, another update: still have some problems with Firefox, but with Opera everything works. May also be a browser problem – or it is my script blocker, that still blocks, even when turned off…

    Yes I think there is a problem with Firefox for sure. I switched to Chrome and I have no more issues.

    Pasting works properly here in all browsers ??

    Maybe look at what Firefox addons you have, some may be interfering. Also try pasting with the shortcut keys: Ctrl+V or Cmd+V on a Mac, from the mouse right-click menu and from the browser main menu to check if it behaves differently.

    I am having a similar issue, I am trying to edit a post on one of my blogs. Using WordPress

    I recorded a video so you can see the behavior on Chrome and Safari on my Mac.

    Also unable to paste. Can’t paste into a new post in either Visual or Text mode. Turned off Classic Editor plugin and can now paste.

    Same problem when using Disable Gutenberg plugin. Seems to be fixed by deactivating Constant Contact plugin.
