• When I’m in my post editor while using Chrome, if I select all of the text in a block, then try to copy it (using ctrl-C), it not only doesn’t copy, it freezes the page, which then crashes, not saving any changes I’ve made.
This does not happen in Firefox. This happens on the two sites I own, plus one other site that I help manage, but do not own. I have contacted my site host (which is not the same host as the managed site), they say everything on their end is working fine. I have de-activated one suspect plug-in (Yoast SEO), but that is the only plug-in that my own sites and the managed site have in common.
I have cleared my cache and cookies, that hasn’t helped. I did the ctrl+shift+J thing that I read in one of the pinned posts and got this error on the post pages: Failed to load resource: net::ERR_BLOCKED_BY_CLIENT. Some pages got more of that error, some got less. Two refer to the same code on the right, one refers to different code.
I also loaded a post into the editor with all my Chrome extensions deactivated, and it was fine, even after I put on each extension, one by one. I then loaded a post with the Chrome extensions activated, and the problem reoccurred. I loaded it with the extensions deactivated and it was fine. I’m using Buffer, Evernote, LastPass, Google docs, NavigUp, Pocket, Malwarebytes, and Zoom.
(Please note that I am not that good at reading code, etc. and am not a developer by any means). I’m not sure what to do next. I would prefer to keep using Chrome, and don’t mind working around the problem as long as it doesn’t mean something else will blow up in my face.

  • @robing34 This may not be super-helpful, but from your thorough explanation, it definitely sounds like an issue with a Chrome extension doing something that is causing an issue when you are copy/pasting. From your explanation, it seems the issue occurs when that plugin is activated, and then you reload the editor, so what I’d recommend debugging is to
    1) Disable all Chrome extensions
    2) Enable them one by one but after enabling each one, reload the editor window before testing
    3) Theoretically, you should be able to reproduce the issue

I think you were close with your testing, but you need to adjust the order in which you’re reloading and activating extensions.

I hope you’re able to get to the bottom of it soon!

Actually, I was thinking about doing just that when you responded. It was the Malwarebytes BrowserGuard acting up. I’m chatting with Malwarbytes now.

And thanks to you, I have some hair left. Sigh.

Yes, the problem is in the Malwarebytes plugin! I also faced this problem and after disabling the Malwarebytes plugin the issue was fixed!
