    Hi there,

I am trying to add the Square gateway to my WooCommerce installation but I can’t get over the first step.

I am testing this on a staging website (basically staging1.website.com/ – example)

    1) I click connect with Square
    2) I login to Square
    3) The websites then shows a success message but wants to redirect me to the wrong WordPress admin. Instead of trying to redirect me to the staging website (staging1.website.com/wp-admin/) it tries to redirect me to the main website admin (website.com/wp-admin/) hence I can’t connect the two.

Is this a known issue? Will it behave better on the live website? If this is the issue I can always add it after publishing the staging copy.

    Thank you,
    C.

This is strange and not the default behaviour of Square. It is likely happening due to some misconfiguration on staging site URL.

Can you please go to Settings > General and then check if WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) are correct, i.e https://staging1.website.com/wp-admin/ ?

If these two are correctly set, but the issue is still occurring, then please send me a copy of your site’s System Status. You can find it via WooCommerce > Status.
Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it here in the response.

I also recommend installing Square directly on the live site, as having it connected to live as well as staging site may cause a discrepancy in the stock count.

    Hi Ashish,

    Thank you for the reply.
The WordPress Address URL and Site Address were pointing to the main website and not to the staging copy.

I tried updating that from the WordPress settings but for some reason it wouldn’t work (probably due to siteground staging copy limitations). So I updated the options from the theme’s functions.php file. Now the connecting process works and I am redirected to the correct staging copy.

As a fun fact, the WordPress admin settings -> general still display the live website instead of the staging copy. Again I guess it’s due to staging copy limitations.

Thank you for your answer. Yes I won’t run square both on staging and on live website, thanks for the heads up.
