THE ERROR MESSAGE WHEN TRYING TO ADD NEW PLUGIN (or theme, or update, or any connections):

We received this error on every site on our entire server running WordPress 4.2.2. Our hosting company is Hostgator. They are very slow at getting back to us on this issue. Actually we haven’t heard nothing from them at all. Before this has happened we installed Wordfence on many of the sites, but not all. So it can’t be wordfence since it is doing the same thing on every site with or without wordfence.

Does anyone know how to get this matter resolved? Is there something I can tell hostgator to do to fix this? Anything else it can be?

Any help would be strongly appreciated!

  • Why did you install WordFence? Was there an already understood (or perhaps not understood fully) security issue?

Wordfence is to protect our sites form malware. We figured out this issue. It was a problem on hostgator’s side.

HOSTGATOR: At this time, I have corrected an issue with the DNS resolution configuration on this server and the Add New Plugins page now works correctly.

Wordfence is to protect our sites from malware.

I use Wordfence to throttle aggressive traffic and do just about everything else it can do, but checking for malware after-the-fact and actually protecting against it are not the same thing. To actually *protect* your site, there is nothing better than BulletProof Security for guarding the gate and all service doors while Wordfence does its own fine work internally.

The Wordfence was for a separate problem. We had been hacked on one of our websites and it was causing our server to bog down. The hackers were sending out spam emails using a cron job.. Actually hostgator was useless after a few days of doing nothing. So I simply logged into the WHM, looked at the load times and found one site using 200% of CPU. So we moved the site to a different server and the server immediately started working fine. We used Wordfence to find the malware so it can be deleted. Thank you for your other suggestions.

So now some other server has the problem?

Yes, There were two different issues with the server at two different periods of time, this issue being the second. The first issue was resolved by moving a site off the server because of Malware which. The second issue was fixed by hostgator. I believe the server was blocking www.remarpro.com IP and they fixed it. This thread has been resolved.
